The History of Tier Four

Since 2003, Tier Four has been providing reliable, affordable Colocation services to businesses and individuals. Tier Four has grown very rapidly from humble beginnings. The company is now a recognized leader in the Colocation market in Utah.

Founding

Tier Four was incorporated on January 6, 2003 with two employees as UVNET, Inc. The UVNET name reflected the company's local focus on the Utah County, Utah market.

Early efforts focused on refining the business model and the service offering. The company grew more rapidly than expected and the company achieved its first profitable month in March of 2003. At the end of 2003, Tier Four had several dozen customers, a stable services portfolio, a solid team and one active data center.

2004

The company grew rapidly in 2004, achieving all of its goals for profitability, new customer acquisition and customer retention. More importantly, the company's name began to be recognized by potential customers and Tier Four found itself bidding on several colocation projects for prospective clients on a monthly basis.

2005

2005 was a year of extreme growth and transition. The company found itself bidding on nearly every important colocation project in the state. Early in 2005, management recognized a need to change the name of the company to reflect a broader geographic market which it found itself serving. After considerable research and deliberation, the name was changed from UVNET to Tier Four in 2005.

Late in 2005, management identified a second data center facility to expand Tier Four's operations and began negotiations. The facility was secured and construction began.

2006

The Salt Lake City Metro colocation facility was opened early in 2006, and was Tier Four's most significant achievement of 2006. Even with the opening of the Salt Lake City facility, the company maintained overall profitability through the end of 2006.

2007

Several important contracts were secured in 2007 and Tier Four surpassed several important milestones. First, Tier Four retained its 200th customer. Second, Tier Four surpassed $2 Million in annual revenue. Finally, Tier Four's team grew to more than 20 employees.
